Coolio - “I’m in Love with Mary Jane”

In 1996, rapper Coolio got busted for cannabis possession. What gave him away? It might have been this cannabis love song released earlier that year as part of the Half-Baked soundtrack, though driving his Hummer on the wrong side of the street certainly didn't help. Either way, the “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper claimed he lent his Hummer to a friend who must have forgotten about the weed and left it in the vehicle (so clearly the friend wasn’t Slink Johnson). Either way, this Dust Brothers-produced track features a sweet sample of James Brown’s “Mary Jane.”
