GET Forty Ounce Wines

September 10, 2017

When’s the last time you had a forty? For most of us, the days of chugging a forty-ounce malt liquor—Old English and Colt 45 are the classic standbys—are long-gone, the stuff of high school. A cheap drunk in one compact bottle is irresistible to 16-year-olds. Besides, what goes better with a Phillies-rolled blunt? Not to mention, if you’ve got two and some masking tape, you’ve also got the opportunity to call yourself Edward Fortyhands. But we all need to grow up someday and that applies to forties, too.

Enter Forty Ounce Wines, for the sentimental street-rat teenager or blatant wino in you. Or both. Why shouldn’t your wine come jumbo-sized with a screw-cap lid? This company agrees. They launched their A.O.C. Muscadet Sevre et Maine in 2016, and while the wine is “made by hand with traditional sustainable farming and vinification method,” it’s intended to be sipped on a stoop or taken to the park… or a party or wherever. Choose between the aforementioned white, with fruity citrus notes, or the requisite rosé; their Vin De France Rosé is a blend of Gamay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Pineau d’Aunis. The grapes are no joke, as the wine is produced by a reputable organic winemaker in France’s Loire region. Just because summer is unofficially over that doesn’t mean you have to act like it. Brown paper bag not included.

At about $17 a bottle, check with Forty Ounce Wine's stockists for availability where you live here.
