This isn’t so much a recommendation to “get” as it is a “check out the new collaboration to end all collaborations,” an alliance consisting of such an obvious recipe for success you wonder why it hasn’t happened more often. This also isn’t the first time collab-crazy Supreme, fresh off their joint venture with Louis Vuitton, and Nike (the sportswear giant is now officially the most beloved brand by teens) have gotten together. They created a Flyknit Lunar design back in 2013, as well as a host of Dunks, Delta Forces and Blazers, the earliest dating back to 2002. But the latest result is easily the most covetable to date.
An update on the famed hoops shoe, the Supreme x Nike Air More Uptempo, already nicknamed the Suptempo, harks back to—when else?—the ʼ90s, with the word “Supreme” replacing Nike’s original “Air” in big, fat, puffed-out letters for a fresh yet familiar effect. After months of endless previews and teasers, the three colorways have been revealed: monochrome, a.k.a. triple black; eye-piercing metallic gold; and white on red. Yes, it’s as much about the hype as it is about the shoe, especially for die-hard sneakerheads, whether they’re willing to admit it or not.
Available April 27th for $180 at Supreme. For about 10 seconds before they’re all sold out.
