Modern Grower host Felix Fang heads to San Diego to see the future of dry trimming technology. She starts in the San Diego foothills at OutCo Labs, a first-rate medical cannabis co-op. Rick Padilla, Director of Cultivation at the grow site, guides Felix through the entire cultivation process, including a hands-on demonstration of how the team previously trimmed plants by hand, before introducing her to the GreenBroz 420 dry trimmer.
“For a human to trim eight hours per day, you would probably on a great day to get a pound done, whereas the auto trimmer can do 10 to 15 pounds per hour,” explains Padilla. He then shows the machine in action as it masterfully trims a multi-gallon load of Blue Dream nugs.
After watching OutCo Labs use the trimmer, Felix heads to the San Diego coast near Mission Bay to meet Cullen Raichart, founder and CEO of GreenBroz, Inc. Raichart gives the host a tour of the GreenBroz facility showing how they make the different sized trimmers and what makes them special.
“I actually watched a friend of mine trying to process trim and dry sift… and I really felt bad for all the work he was doing,” says Raichart, describing his inspiration for GreenBroz’ industry-leading trimmer. “The goal was to build a machine that does a very tedious manual process—not to build a machine that [just] trims bud really fast—[but] to build a machine that does a really intricate job.”
