As a shy teen, Robert Schwartzman never imagined performing live when he started his first band, Rooney. He finally relented, playing a show with his brother Jason’s band, Phantom Planet, and the rest is history. Today, Schwartzman is an all-around music artist with several Rooney albums, a pair of solo releases, a few film scores and an iPhone app for musicians, but he spends most of his time producing and recording in his popular live/work studio, Beachwood Park Recordings. PRØHBTD Cities visits Schwartzman in his Los Angeles-based recording facility to discuss making music, building a great studio and the rise of Rooney. Schwartzman even jumps on a few instruments.
