Exilium will bring graffiti art to the big screen on March 7 when the production company premieres Vandal at Miami Film Festival. With a storyline that pits Cuban-American graffiti artist Damage against a longtime street-art rival, “the film explores the personal and societal struggles of an extremely talented underground graffiti writer living by a code that is no longer justifiable in the new world of globalized graffiti/street art” (per the Vandal website). The film is inspired by real-life experiences and shot in vibrant Miami neighborhoods like Little Havana and Little Haiti.
Vandal director Jose Daniel Freixas (Magic City Memoirs), a Cuban-American graffiti artist himself, co-founded Exilium with record label owner Tony Gonzalez (Locos por Juana). Los Angeles graffiti legend Risk and Rob Weiss (Entourage, Ballers, American Psycho) are among the executive producers.
